Story of a Descent
Part two:
Say you had this experience on an airplane.
Nausea has set in, at the base of the stomach and is working its way to the throat.
Sickening tightening.
You are sitting next to the right propeller
which is noisy and humming loudly as if encountering resistance.
As if the fans were pushing back the wind and rain that is being pulled into them.
You become aware of a hesitant hummmm that is not reassuring.
You might have the thought:
Were it a body making such a commotion it would surely be on the verge of keeling over.
Now there is the loud rattle of wheels dropping.
A sort of abrupt metal against metal screeching, not reassuring.
The noise, you are thinking, is completely low and tilted,
pushed by something forcing it downwards,
    or perhaps from above.
