The exit door has been designed to prevent any air from outside of the aircraft from entering the cabin. If you are seated in an exit row,  do not attempt to open the door in the event that there is not an emergency. You will know when it is time for an emergency when the lights begin to blink in the aisle. If for some reason the exit door needs to be opened, the arrows in the diagram (left) will guide you through the procedure. If the exit lights indicate that it is safe to leave the aircraft, lift up on the lever adjacent to the white handle, and pull the door up and towards the center of the aircraft. Thrust the door out of the opening. Do not attempt to store the door inside of the aircraft as this will only add obstructions to the path of those attempting to flee.
When the exit doors are separated from the aircraft, the slide will automatically inflate and attempt to make contact with the ground. If the plane is on its side and the slide is unable to inflate, then use an exit at the rear or front of the aircraft. Your feet must leave the floor of the plane before you can enter the slide. Slide with your feet in the direction of the ground.
(Do not attempt to slide with your chin towards the sky [see diagram]).  Vacate the area of the slide once your feet have touched the ground. This will allow other passengers to esape the plane without running into obstacles.
